My Background

In Middle School (then "Junior High"), I recall seeing a film in art class with an artist wildly swinging paint brushes and containers of paint onto an enormous canvas. I discovered Jackson Pollock that day! I was, and still am, fascinated with his work and the concept of modern abstract painting.

My Medium

I enjoy working with acrylics. The bold pigments and the fast drying time allows me to put layer upon layer in less time...hiding the imperfections of the first layer with a second and third.

My Inspiration

I'm fascinated with sunsets and find endless inspiration trying to capture the perfect one. (This is a hereditary flaw! I watched my father attempt to attain the same perfect sunset using a 35mm camera and then having to wait a week for the film to be developed to see his results.)

My instructor, teacher and mentor! I often refer to her as "the best teacher on three continents." From Scotland, to South Africa and now the U.S., she is an amazing instructor and a dedicated volunteer helping members of our community.

Artitsts, Teachers and World Travelers -- they produce some amazing pottery along with other art creations. Plus, they have proven to be the ultimate tour guides through Chicago's spectacular art museums.

Arnold Gatton

An artist, photographer and illustrator who creates drawings along with wry and witty cartoons. Arnie also shares my character flaw of attempting to capture the perfect sunset. He has come closer to achieving that goal than I.
